about

This track was recorded at Open Grave Records in South Australia during the early months of 2014. The song is about a guitar player that I was once intimidated by, but soon realised I had no reason to be. His guitar was never in tune and he used to play too many Blink 182 riffs.

lyrics

You're not my hero anymore
You are as drunk as an old man
Went for a cigarette on public transport
So tone def from the treble on your Marshall stack
You scream across the room
"Is my guitar in tune?"

No
It's not
It's more than a semitone away
And no
It's not
A worthwhile melody to play

You're not the poster on my wall
Or the voice in my head when I picture
What the song will sound like
Are you confused about what it means to be an artist
Cos not every punk icon
Tears his own shorts

Are
You done
Making me feel like a child?
And are
You done
Teaching me things I've known for a while

Don't try to tell me which road I'm driving on
When you never bothered to get your provisionaries
Don't try to tell me you're as dense as onions
When you're common as a bag of frozen peas

When
You're old
I hope you can live with your regrets
And when
You're old
Maybe you'll have my respect
