Chicago 03:14
Keep me up for the lullaby that sends me to sleep. Words, worthless, lifted from the T.V. screen. White ravens, shots ring in my mouth. We came from the south, Drawing new hands, Bernie my friend. You've never been a martyr and you'll never be a saint, The blood on your hands is too much to take. You're banging your head on things you regret And bragging's got you no respect. Won't you drink with me, O slip-tooth tongue-waggling man? Won't you drink with me, O flip-flopping old oil-suit man? Pardon me for asking just what it is you do, You never really knew me, and I never knew you. No bullshit, no fibs in my ear, you want me to hear Speak a little bit clearer as I bring about no fear. Browbeat, old man: Chicago's the heaviest drink, Just looking for an option And this dive-bar's a great place to think. Won't you drink with me, O slip-tooth tongue-waggling man? Won't you drink with me, O flip-flopping old oil-suit man?

We are so safe from harm Still you tell me we pretend (that we are) Lost and cold, poor and old, A fuck off fear you'll regret. This is gold as we unfold Still you try to break it down (and you are) Far too proud so wear your frown For we see you're deceiving yourself. Lay me down Take me round To her sister's house. There she waits With a smile on her face For the storm in the town where she was raised. Made a promise that you've not kept, Still you smile in the hope we'll forget So you know once I knew a man just like you Spoke such lies that he swore were so true. (He said) God was a bitter man With souls he would choose But God, was he a bitter man like you. I'm sorry it's been said Take my words and be red With the rage of a pride You can't have if you want To get better, to be loved Without fear from your mother At least you have a reason to cry. It's not too late to be happy inside.

Your father left the house that day And he sold his soul, and he sold his soul, It left your mum awake at night, Her tears have stained this home. I am so afraid, I am just a riverbed filled with pain. I am so afraid, I am just a riverbed filled with pain And I will remain. Many months forgotten, Many opportunities that you could not reclaim. No books, no friends, just a man who depends On the chemicals that sent him insane. I am so ashamed, I am just a stupid boy who made his mistakes (I will remain) I am so ashamed, I am just a stupid boy who made his mistakes And I will remain The same, the same. I will remain.

Smile For Me 05:44
Who are you to take up my bed? Who are you to leave it unsaid? Your grace and your smiles, and your hazelnut eyes make your face. You never left my skin and I never ever left your cave. You think you know why, but you're missing my eyes, and they're collecting as much as you give. A pretty girl knows what a pretty boy shows, and the rest is all left to the river. The water it flows and it rains as we tangle and tense. I make like it's off like a bucket of fish in the sun. I make like it's off like a bucket of fish in the sun. Barrel chained, do I remain sufficient? Barrel chained, do I remain conditioned? Don't you know, don't you know The one last thing that I have not said? I'll walk you, I'll kiss you, I'll carry you all the way to her bed. I'll walk you, I'll kiss you, I'll carry you all the way to her bed. I'll walk you, I'll kiss you, I'll carry you all the way to her bed. I'll walk you, I'll kiss you, I'll carry you all the way to her bed. You bless me, don't bless me, I'll bless your poor soul 'Til the wind in your sails takes you all the way home. You bless me, don't bless me, I'll bless your poor soul 'Til the wind in your sails takes you all the way home. You bless me, don't bless me, I'll bless your poor soul 'Til the wind in your sails takes you all the way home. You bless me, don't bless me, I'll bless your poor soul 'Til the wind in your sails takes you all the way home. Because all you do is hurt and I hate the way you cry, When sometimes all you do is burn all the bridges you find.

It's human nature that we'd wallow in our sad songs, and Reflect on the past, fearing some ancient, defining Mystery, that we can see through. Open your eyes. There's no mystery: simplicity is truth. In a way, it's the way that you woke me up, You're a step away from changing the world. You've swords and you have lovers who have lasted a night, You've treated with respect both the black and the white. You're so caught up in all of the features you want, Don't forget what you've got, it's so beautiful. In a way, it's the way that you woke me up, You're a step away from changing the world. In a way, it's the way that you woke me up, You're a step away from changing the world. So reel in your sad, sad fishing rod, That sinks with each tug that you treat as a loss. The market man thinks he knows what is in store, But there's no blind eyes that are crippling our core. In the future you'll be happy all day On the many odd occasions, until you're ripe with old age. I'm wishing you well, and I'm hoping you're okay And by God may your hand show the way. In a way, it's the way that you woke me up, You're a step away from changing the world. In a way, it's the way that you woke me up, You're a step away from changing the world.

We were old enough to know that we should've done better. Still, we flew to the sun and burned up our God-given feathers. I was so sold on you, But everything's different now as we share our differing views. You were the best kiss I've ever had, You were the best kiss I've ever… On and on and on and on, the weight always falls on you. All I saw, I saw, I saw for six months at sea was new ways to breathe Inside my boat is wrecked, it's twisting my back, it's making me crack. It's twisting my back, it's making me crack, it's making me crack… The best kiss I've ever had. You were the best kiss I've ever had, You were the best kiss I've ever had. You were the best kiss I've ever had, You were the best kiss I've ever had. I was so sold on you.

about

"Bye Old Heart" is the last gasp goodbye to a life chapter coming to it's natural conclusion. Exploring themes of the romantic, familial and fantasy, my debut release seeks to render the listener into a state of reflection and vulnerability towards towards the bittersweet and lost.
